Denali Air Express

The focus of this tour is to give visitors an optimal bird’s-eye of all the features of the Park with the chance to see Denali when weather conditions permit. You’ll fly along the snow-capped peaks of the Alaska Range on your way to the Muldrow, Brooks and Traleika Glaciers, the massive rivers of ice that flow from Denali’s east face. The 150-mile flight will cover an astonishing array of terrain, from the marshy and green lowlands, through the colorful mid-levels of the Cantwell Formation and the foothills of the Alaska Range, up to the stunning rock and ice of the alpine peaks as you near the Denali Massif. Your pilot will get you within 5 miles of Denali itself.

Denali Air Peak Experience
Soar amongst the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range on a stunning 200-mile flight through Denali National Park to get within 1/2 mile of Denali. Weather permitting, this flight will circle Denali to see every spectacular corner of this majestic mountain. You’ll see braided rivers, wildly colorful ridgelines and velvety tundra-covered valleys as you climb towards pristine snow-covered peaks and tumbling icefalls en route to the Mountain. As you near Denali, you will thread between snowy alpine peaks, such as Mount Mather, Silverthrone and Mount Huntington. You’ll be flying at an optimal altitude that will give you the best perspective of the sheer size of the mountains of the Denali Massif.

Helicopter: Denali Glacier Landing
​
Walk upon an ancient glacier tucked away deep in the Alaska Range. Your adventure begins at our private heliport. Immediately upon lift off, you will be immersed in the vastness of the Denali National Preserve. On your way to the massive Yanert Glacier, your pilot will serve as your guide through this unique glacially-carved environment. Soar over the rolling tundra, keeping an eye out for local residents – caribou, moose, bear, and Dall sheep. Snow capped peaks and glaciers abound on this journey before you set down on a river of ice. Enjoy 15-20 minutes of glacial exploration with endless photo opportunities.

Helicopter: Tundra Express Landing

Enjoy this short helicopter ride through the peaks and valleys that make up the Alaska Range. Just moments after taking off from our riverside heliport, you will find yourself immersed deep in the Alaska backcountry. As you explore the mountains just outside of Denali National Park, look below for local wildlife or keep your eyes on the horizon for a chance to view Denali, North America’s tallest peak, or Mt. Deborah, her impressive sister to the East. You will set down on the soft, alpine tundra giving you the opportunity to step out and into this scenic landscape. With the pilot as your guide, take this opportunity to explore the local ecosystem, scan for local wildlife, snap a flurry of keepsake photos or just sink your feet into the tundra and breathe in the mountain air. Your trip concludes with a short, yet incredible flight back to our Denali heliport.

Fly Denali-Glacier Landing Tour

The primary landing strip (Sheldon Mountain House) sits near the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, the world’s deepest gorge, where you will truly feel the size and scale of the massive mountain peaks looming above! Fly between the rocky cliffs of the Moose’s Tooth and Mt. Dickey before making your final approach over deep crevasses into the Ruth Amphitheater.

Enjoy a 20-30 minute stay only a mere 11 miles away from the top of Denali, North America’s highest peak! Here you can enjoy views of the infamous Don Sheldon Mountain House, relax while breathing in the fresh, alpine air, or start a friendly snowball fight with family members or fellow passengers! Remember our pilots double as photographers so don’t be afraid to ask for a quick family pic or an action shot!

After an exciting departure off of the glacier and out of the Ruth Amphitheater, we will make our way back to our airport over the park for one last glimpse of the grandeur you can only witness by airplane.
